Real Alaska and Real Remote

One of Worldwide Anglings most isolated and thus well protected locations, Unalakleet River Lodge is a the big jewel in the Alaskan frontier. Located 400 miles north west of Anchorage, on the Bering Sea, Unalakleet has absolutely no pressure from other nearby lodges, because there is nothing nearby! Commercial air service provided by PenAir, is the only way in or out unless you would rather chance a Bering Sea boat ride, no one so far has. If you want a remote, classic Alaskan frontier fishing adventure, this is it.

ACCOMMODATIONS AT UNALAKLEET RIVER LODGE

Expect the unexpected... comfort, huge fluffy towels and other little niceties such as bed & bath lines by Polo Ralph Lauren. Yes, we know you want that "bush" experience... but we also know you love the little creature comforts! All of the cabins have full private baths that are truly modern (flush toilets, hot water and tub w/showers). It's possible to transform a few of the cabins into king bed accommodations. Just let them know ahead of time.

DINING AT UNALAKLEET RIVER LODGE

Nothing has been spared for the weary angler. The freshest fish prepared by the most experienced chef will make meal time a much-anticipated event. The view from the dinning room is the finest in the world as it looks out over the sound. People gather here for long periods after dinner just to recount the day and adsorb the view.

FISHING AT UNALAKLEET RIVER LODGE

JULY 17 to SEPTEMBER 8

Unalakleet River Lodge's reputation has been built on the extraordinary King Salmon runs that begin in mid-June and continue until mid or late July, depending in mid-June, depending on the year. These Kings are in the 25 to 35 pound class with larger fish caught each season.

But, oh... the silver run (10 to 15 pounds) - it's unmatched anywhere in Alaska! They'll give you a fight, leap out of the water several times and quite possibly clear out the line on your reel. During a normal year, you can expect silvers in late July, August and September. Everyone forgets about the chum salmon... but, you may like to know, it is the strongest on a pound-for pound basis. And we have a heck of a pink salmon run too (usually 4 to 7 pounds). They may be the smallest of all the salmon... but we're talking about some real action. The best time for chum salmon is from mid-June through late August, while the pink salmon are late June through late July.

And, if you want to try your hand at little lighter tackle - we have, for your fishing pleasure, Arctic grayling and Dolly Varden throughout our season. If you're with us early July to late August, the opportunity for Arctic Char will be there as well. The Unalakleet River Lodge has access tohundreds of miles of fishable water. And, the best part of all - we're the only lodge on the river! It's an easy river to fish because of the lazy bends, pools and minimal tidal fluctuations. But, one of the greatest benefits of this river... when the salmon come up-river, they're bright chrome silver and full of fight! Now, isn't that what you've been looking for.
